#3 Investing in China?
Let's first take a look at the past and present leaders and discover their incentives.
We westerns know very little about China. We tend to think they see the world with the same glasses as we do. As a matter of fact, we are normally mistaken.
There have been continuos rumours in the last years about how far the CCP was going to regulate the big Chinese Tech, the common prosperity crackdowns and the delisting of Chinese VIE and ADR structures from the US exchanges.
As an investor in China, Tencent for some years and also lately of Alibaba, I tried to shut down all this noise and learn a bit more about them. Especially, and given the circumstances, about the leaders: what’s the history, what are the incentives behind them. Can we anticipate future actions understanding what is their ultimate goal and knowing what they did in the past?
This is a first step in the study and preparation for my investment thesis in Tencent and the overall understanding of the associated risks. I hope you like it.
